News The Taste of New Zealand Festival 2011Sat 8th Oct 2011 06:27AM by CJD From the 19th – 22nd October, Victoria Park will be home to the biggest food festival New Zealand has ever seen, with top national and international chefs, artisan producers, boutique wineries and a world class entertainment line up. Highlights of the show include:
Fisher & Paykel Chefs Kitchen – See some of the best local and international chefs showcase their skills, share their cooking secrets and if you are lucky taste their critically acclaimed signature dishes! Hosted by Kelly Young, watch an fantastic lineup of chefs including: Gary Rhodes, Annabel Langbein, Josh Emett (Masterchef), Michael Van Elzen (The Food Truck), Nicci Wickes (World Kitchen), Paul Jobin (Executive Chef Sky City), Sergio Maglione (Toto Resturant) and Ben Bayly (The Grove) as they take you through an informative and delicious culinary journey.
Waiwera Chefs Table – Socialise with the best chefs in New Zealand and international stars from the world of fine food and wine. A unique opportunity to sit down and pick the minds of those that make the culinary world tick.
Annabel Langbein Book Launch – our most famous cook and best selling author Annabel Langbein, is releasing her new book Annabel Langbein Free Range in the City at the festival.
Rick Stein’s Malaysia Kitchen – The popular UK chef will demonstrate at Taste in October, sharing with festival guests his way of adding the flavours of Malaysian cooking to great New Zealand produce.
Peroni Bandstand – Centrally located in this festival of culinary delights will be a stunning line-up of local musicians including Peter Urlich, Nathan Haines, The Nukes and the Caitlin Smith Trio.
The Whisky Shop Masterclasses – If you love whisky or love the idea of loving whisky, The Whisky Shop Whisky Masterclass is the place to be. A true showcase of the greatest variety of whiskies available anywhere in New Zealand all under the one marquee!
Audi VIP Lounge – Indulge yourself in the Audi VIP Lounge experience at Taste of New Zealand with a glass of Nautilus cuvee on arrival and exclusive use of the VIP lounge and bar as your base to discover the wonderful tastes and flavours from around the festival. A VIP ticket includes $30 crowns. All sessions will sell out, so please book early.
Artisan Food Producers – Boutique artisan producers have been hand-picked from around the country to showcase the very best of New Zealand food and drink. Discover single estate olive oil, gourmet chili products and artisan preserves. The Taste of New Zealand team has searched the length and breadth of the country to uncover over 140 winemakers, brewers, pop-up bars, coffee roasters, butchers and gourmet food & drink producers all of absolute premium quality.
Taste of New Zealand Awards (TONZA) – TONZA is an initiative that recognizes restaurants who are champions of regional produce. Four of the five TONZA recipients will be heading to Taste of New Zealand this year to give guests a taste of delicious local cuisine from all over New Zealand.
